The Chairman and founder of SFG, Mr. Shrem is a financial veteran, and one of the more prominent forces in the Israeli financial and industrial community.
Mr. Shrem's proven market acuity - accurately identifying and forecasting market trends, and acting to meet new challenges presented by them - have kept him at the forefront of the Israeli financial community for over 30 years. The pioneer of venture capital in Israel, in 1993 Mr. Shrem founded Polaris (now called Pitango), one of Israel's most successful venture capital funds manage funds, which manages in excess of $700 million in committed capital from well-established international investors. Prior to founding SFG in 1991, Mr. Shrem spent 15 years at Clal, one of Israel's largest conglomerates. At Clal he served in various capacities, including Chief Operating Officer responsible for the group's capital markets and insurance businesses. Mr. Shrem serves on the boards of a number of high-profile public institutions, including the, Tel-Aviv Sourasky Medical Center and the Weizman Institute, one of the world's leading institutes for life sciences research. Mr. Shrem is currently Chairman of the Board of The Friends of the Herzeliya Interdiscilinary Center, one of Israel's most prominent private academic institutions, and served as a board member of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra from 1992-2002. Mr. Shrem holds a B.A. in Economics from Bar-Ilan University, and an MBA from Tel-Aviv University. |
